Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 16, 2026

1. Who We Are

B-Legal is a legal information and court-readiness platform operated by ACS Solutions. We are not a law firm. Our platform is available at blegalapp.com and associated mobile applications.

For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@blegalapp.com.

2. What We Collect

Information you provide
  • Account information — email address, display name, and password (hashed) when you create an account.
  • Legal content — questions submitted to B-Legal AI, FOIL request drafts, court event details, and documents uploaded to your Legal Locker. This content is associated with your account.
  • Payment information — billing and subscription data handled directly by Stripe. B-Legal does not store full payment card numbers.
  • Communications — messages you send to B-Legal support.
Information collected automatically
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, session duration, and interaction events.
  • Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, IP address, and referring URL.
  • Cookies and local storage — session tokens and preference data (such as disclaimer dismissal). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve B-Legal services
  • To authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • To process subscription payments via Stripe
  • To generate AI-powered legal information responses to your questions
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, court date reminders, billing notices)
  • To send product updates and educational content (you may opt out at any time)
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your legal questions or documents to train AI models without your explicit consent.

4. Legal Locker and Sensitive Documents

Documents uploaded to your Legal Locker are stored in encrypted cloud storage (Supabase Storage). Access is restricted to your account. B-Legal employees do not access your documents except to resolve a technical issue you report.

You can delete any document at any time. Deleted documents are removed from our systems within 30 days.

5. AI-Generated Content

Questions you submit to B-Legal AI are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's data handling practices are governed by their own privacy policy. B-Legal's use of OpenAI's API is subject to OpenAI's API data usage policies, which prohibit OpenAI from using API inputs to train their models.

Your AI queries are stored in our database associated with your account for query history and usage limit purposes. You can request deletion of your query history at any time.

6. Data Sharing

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — Supabase (database and storage), Stripe (payments), OpenAI (AI responses), Sentry (error monitoring). Each is bound by data processing agreements.
  • Attorney marketplace — If you submit a consultation request, relevant details (not your full account or documents) are shared with the matched attorney.
  • Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of B-Legal or others.
  • Business transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale, user data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data — retained while your account is active. Deleted within 90 days of account deletion request.
  • AI queries — retained for 12 months, then automatically purged.
  • Legal Locker documents — retained until you delete them.
  • Billing records — retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Portability — Request your data in a portable format.
  • Opt-out of marketing — Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@blegalapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. B-Legal does not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at privacy@blegalapp.com.

10. Children's Privacy

B-Legal is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us immediately at privacy@blegalapp.com.

11. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, and rate limiting. However, no system is completely secure. We will notify you of any data breach affecting your account as required by applicable law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the platform. Your continued use of B-Legal after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
