What is B-Legal?

B-Legal is a NYC-focused legal information platform. It helps New Yorkers look up summons codes, generate FOIL request letters, and navigate legal processes — without hiring a lawyer for every question.

No. B-Legal provides legal information, not legal advice. Nothing on this platform creates an attorney-client relationship. For legal representation, consult a licensed attorney.

How do I use the FOIL generator?

Go to FOIL Generator, select the template that matches your request (e.g., NYPD records, DOB violations), fill in the required fields, and generate your letter. Copy or download it, then send to the agency's FOIL officer.

What summons types are covered?

B-Legal covers 290+ NYC violation references including traffic, parking, housing, public order, environmental, and other common municipal summons categories.

Can I save documents?

Document storage is coming soon as part of the Pro plan. Currently, you can copy or download generated FOIL letters directly.

Is there a mobile app?

The web app is fully mobile-optimized. A native iOS and Android app is on the roadmap.
