Overview
Driving 1–10 mph above the posted speed limit. In NYC, the default speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. School zones and playground zones may have lower limits. Radar or LIDAR evidence is standard; speed cameras in school zones issue civil violations.

- Appear at the TVB (Traffic Violations Bureau) — not Criminal Court
- Plead Not Guilty and request a hearing
- At hearing: challenge the calibration records and officer's line of sight
