Overview
Failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a marked or unmarked crosswalk. NYC has aggressive enforcement, particularly near schools and in Vision Zero target areas. A second conviction within 18 months adds a $150/year DRA surcharge.

How to Contest
- Appear at TVB, plead Not Guilty
- Challenge whether pedestrian was lawfully in the crosswalk at the time
- Present evidence the vehicle did yield or that the pedestrian entered suddenly
Common Defenses
- Pedestrian stepped off curb suddenly
- Pedestrian was not in a crosswalk
- Vehicle yielded but officer's view was obstructed
- Pedestrian signal did not authorize walk
