Overview

Parking in a space designated for people with disabilities without a valid NYC Parking Permit for People with Disabilities (PPPD). Also applies to using an expired or someone else's disability permit. Civil fines are steep — $180 for no permit, with mandatory DMV notification.

$180 (civil) + mandatory DMV assessment; $65+ for expired permit

None for civil; court surcharge if criminal

How to Contest

  1. Contest at OATH with proof of valid disability permit in effect on the date
  2. Obtain documentation from the issuing agency if permit was in your vehicle

  • Valid disability permit was in the vehicle and clearly displayed
  • Permit was valid — enforcement officer error
  • Incorrect plate recorded
